Lt. Gen. Commissioned into the elite 8 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry in 1979, his career spans over four decades of frontline command, counter-insurgency operations, and high-level defence planning. He is best known for his role as the General Officer Commanding of the 15 Corps (Chinar Corps) in Kashmir, where he played a key role in planning and executing the 2016 surgical strikes following the Uri terror attack, an operation that redefined India’s military response doctrine.
Beyond the battlefield, Lt. Gen. Dua served as the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (CISC) to the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee, where he oversaw joint operations and coordination between the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
